Top Five Hot Chick Videos

When faced with a crippling creative drought, there’s one universal truth in music video production: you can never go wrong with hot chick videos.

Here we count down our five favorite “hot chick videos” – several of which even have some semblance of a plot!

5. “3’s and 7’s” – Queens of the Stone Age

The plot: Hot chicks throw knives and tear around in muscle cars

An inspired slice of pulp, “3’s and 7’s” is the perfect mashup of Tarantino’s “Grindhouse” and the Queens’s fuzzed-out desert aesthetic.

A self-described “shocking spectacle of decadence”, “3’s and 7’s” follows a group of outlaw ladies as they tear up a series of desert towns and rip around in a vintage Dodge Charger.

While there is a bit of a plot/concept here (the video is billed as a trailer for a 70’s exploitation movie), in the end it equates to “hot chicks throw knives” – and that’s plenty fine by us.

4. “Wait a Minute” – Pussycat Dolls

The plot: Hot chicks ride the subway

What hot chick videos list is complete without an entry from the Pussycat Dolls?  While all of the Dolls’s videos qualify, we’ll give the nod to “Wait a Minute”.

With a concept that can be summarized as “the Pussycat Dolls do a striptease on public transit while Timbaland yells”, it’s impossible to watch “Wait a Minute” and not gain a whole new appreciation for subway hand rails.

Extra points for the gratuitous use of Samsung Sidekicks throughout the video – 2006 represent!

3. “Gold” – Chet Faker

The plot: Hot chicks roller skate down a lonely highway

This Hiro Murai-directed video is long on style, but the concept couldn’t be simpler: hot chicks on roller skates.

The execution is visually unique and technically flawless, and complements the mournful nature of Faker’s track perfectly.

Hot chicks on roller skates can create an existential experience – who knew?

2. “Asphyxiation” – Autoerotique

The plot: Hot chicks play dodgeball

For our requisite Canadian video production we’ll go with “Asphyxiation” by Toronto EDM outfit Autoerotique.

Melding Vince Vaughn’s 2004 masterpiece “Dodgeball” with scenes from our soon-to-be-revealed #1 video, “Asphyxiation” is a technically impressive slice of pseudo-exploitation.

While the gratuitous shots come fast and furious, there’s no denying that these girls have some serious skills – the back flip kick at 1:24 is particularly badass.

1. “Call On Me” – Eric Prydz

The plot: Hot chicks do aerobics

Could there be any other? The penultimate hot chick video, “Call on Me” set the standard by which all other hot chick videos will forever be measured.

An inspired parody of this ridiculous scene from 1985’s “Perfect” (with John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis providing the thrusting), “Call On Me” features dancer Deanne Berry as the instructor of an aerobics class populated almost exclusively by fit females in spandex.

The video itself was a smash, setting download records and leading to a memorable performance on Top Of The Pops.  The video even spawned a full workout DVD (“Pump It Up“) featuring Berry and the rest of the dancers from “Call On Me”.

Skewered by NME for its “lowest common denominator vibe”, we personally feel that Huse Monfaradi‘s video is a lycra-laden masterpiece – more than deserving of the title of best hot chick video of all time.
